Christmas is coming which means the season of giving is upon us. This is the time of year we remember the causes we support and less fortunate who need our help. Two popular Santa-themed fundraising events are Santa Runs and Santa Pub crawls. The question is, are you a runner or a crawler?
Santa Runs – Keep fit and help a worthy cause. The typical Santa Run is a 5K and is usually followed by some sort of party. Runners will pay an entrance fee and or raise money from sponsors. In addition to raising money, Santa Runs actively recruit runners from far and wide in order to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest gathering a Santas, unbroken since 2007.
Santa Crawls – This event is much more for the charitable party animal than the fitness enthusiast. Pub crawls involves several bars in a close geographical. Party-goers must dress in Santa Suits as they take to the streets, drinking their way from one pub to another. It can work in a few different ways:
- Participants pay an entrance fee (which may also include a toy). People who don’t wear a Christmas costume, usually pay more.
- Pubs offer prizes and contests to lure crawlers to their pub.
- Pubs may offer a percentage of their proceeds for the charity.
For both Santa Runs and Pub Crawls, there is no need for a professional Santa Suit. You can buy an economy Santa suit from Wholesale Costume Club starting as low as $9.96.
So the question remains, what type of Santa are you?
